- The Company's objects is to manufacture jute goods such as hessian cloth and bags sacking cloth and bag twine jute felt webbing carpet backing cloth etc. The mills are run by electricity. The Company also manufactures caustic soda liquid chlorine calcium hyprochlorite and hydrochloric acid.

1925 - Nominal value of Equity shares reduced from Rs.10 to Rs.7.50 per share.

1954 - 300000 Bonus equity share of Rs.7.50 each issued in prop. 3:4. Pref. shares now carry gross dividend of 9.1% p.a.

1983 - Equity shares consolidated on 16th January 1984.

1984 - With effect from 30th May the name of the Company was changed from Hukumchand Jute Mills Ltd. to the present one.

- 5 25 000 Bonus equity shares issued in prop. 1:1.

1985 - Though production rose substantially turnover declined to Rs.56.58 crores due to sluggish demand and unremunerative price of finished goods.

1986 - Despite stable prices of raw jute the Jute Division could not perform well due to poor demand conditions prevailing in the market.

1988 - Sales declined to Rs.18.09 crores due to increase in raw-material prices without proportionate increase in the prices of finished goods.

1991 - Production of caustic soda declined to 27 250 tonnes due to power cut.

- 10 50 000 Bonus equity shares issued in prop. 1:1.

1992 - The Company undertook a modernisation programme to switch over to membrane cell technology from mercury cells. The installation of membrane cell plant was completed and commissioned.

1996 - Production of the company was lower due to severe power restrictions and tripping.

1997 - Production declined due to low sale price and increased production cost.

- To reduce the cost of power the Company has imported two D.G. Sets of 6.125 MW each which expected to be fully operational by September 1998.
