Company History: The Company was promoted by Sri. A.S. Chowdhri and Associate on 4.12.1957 to carry on export activity of agricultural commodities - like tobacco and tea. The name was later changed to Nava Bharat Enterprises Private Limited (in terms of Resolution passed on 20.5.58 under Section 22 o the Companies Act 1956) in accordance with the directions of the Central Government through its letter dated 2.5.1958 and then to Nava Bharat Enterprises LImited w.e.f. 30.1.80 on conversion to a Public Limited Company (in terms of Special Resolution passed on 16-1-1980 under sections 31(1)/44 of the Companies Act 1956). With experience in exports the Promotters branched off to manufacturing activities to gain value addition for the products and earn more foreign currency. This was achieved by takig over & merging two companies - manufacturing Cigarettes & solid Tantalum Capacitors. The Company has also added a division dealing in leather products and another for Oil Palm plantations development. Over a period of 35 years the company has established itself in exports and was awarded the `Star Trading House' status by the Central Government in 1991. |
